When it comes to planning a destination wedding in France, there are lots of things to think about and consider. This can leave you overwhelmed and unsure of where to turn or what to think about next.
As a French destination weddings expert, I can help!
Here is my 5-step checklist for planning your destination wedding in France.
You may know that you want to get married in France, but do you have a clear idea of where in France you would like to celebrate your wedding? It is always best to define your exact location as soon as possible. That way, you can start to search for a venue and plan your site visits if you are able to travel to see your shortlisted venues.
There are lots of great places in France that you could choose as your wedding destination. We specialise in weddings in Paris, Provence and the Cote D’Azur, because these are our most preferred areas.
It is always a good idea to define the ambiance and atmosphere you are after for your wedding as early as possible. Wether it is a romantic and elegant wedding, or a modern and sophisticated one, having a clear vision will help you sort through the many venue options available.
Knowing your budget is critical, right from the beginning of planning. We have seen many couples book a venue that was taking them far beyond the budget they were happy to spend and had to cut on items that were important to them. Part of this is knowing how much things cost, and this is where the support of your wedding planner in France will make a huge difference.
Each venue has a maximum capacity, some large, some quite small. Before falling in love with a venue, make sure it can hold your numbers… rain or shine! If the venues you have shortlisted have no bad weather indoor option, you will need to add to the rental the potential cost of a marquee. Again, not all venues allow all types of marquees, and not all types of marquees cost the same, so your French wedding planner will be the one to guide you as to what the real cost of each venue is once you take this into account.
Once you have a clearer idea of the style and atmosphere you are after for your wedding, of location, numbers and budget, it is time to speak to wedding planners and choose the one that will accompany you al along the way. You will want a destination wedding planner who has a track record of creating weddings in a similar style to what you are after, with experience planning destination weddings in the area(s) you are interested in, who you can easily and efficiently communicate with, and with who you feel at ease.
If you are starting planning your wedding in France and are feeling a bit overwhelmed, drop us a line, we will be delighted to point you in the right direction!
