Planning your wedding in France is a thrilling prospect: the gorgeous landscapes, the historical venues, the cuisine and wine,… so many things to look forward to and that will for sure create the perfect setting for your special day. And your guests for sure will be super excited at the idea of flying to beautiful La France to celebrate and feast with you! But how to keep your guests excitement and anticipation alive from Save the Date to travel due date? Below are a few tips to make it happen!
Create anticipation from the very first element of your actual wedding your guests will get to see. Share a “Save the Date” card or digital announcement that gives a taste of your wedding location, either the venue if you are happy to disclose it early, or the area.
Getting married in Paris? How about including an illustration of the city showing its beautiful gardens, shops and museums?
Tying the knot in Provence? Why not accompany your Save the Date with a small lavender scented sachet?
If you have a comfortable budget, we love the idea of sending a bespoke, illustrated and animated e-save the date that will showcase all the amazing things to see and do around your wedding location and that will take your guests directly to a beautiful wedding website. Our favourites are from Potesta Design, do check them out!
We always recommend that our couples have a comprehensive wedding website, on which their guests can easily find all the logistical information they may need to prepare for their trip.
Your French destination wedding website should include a travel section with the nearest airports and ways to get from the airports to the venue/their hotel (wether it is renting a car, using a taxi, or hoping on a shuttle arranged by yourselves). It should also include a list of nearby accommodation if your venue cannot accommodate your entire guest list.
Your wedding website should also include a comprehensive destination guide.
Being able to find details about the venue, nearby attractions and cultural experiences will be very appreciated by your guests. Include recommendations for local cuisine, must-visit places, and the places that you personally love.
This will help your guests plan their trip and will build anticipation for the experiences awaiting them!
Your guests may have PAs that can arrange all of their travels and organise their stay in France, but if this is not the case there are also local travel and concierge companies that can help! Research the best local partners and include their details to your wedding website.
In lieu (or on top of) a Welcome Bag, why not send your guests some “Can’t wait to see you there” bags filled with all the items they will need for their travels, such as: in flight accessories (warm socks, ear plugs, eye masks, lip balm, cadence boxes,…), luggage tags, beautifully scented mini paper soaps, one of your favourite books, candies,… anything you love to have on your travels!
YOUR destination wedding in France promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for both you and your guests. By incorporating these few ideas, you can ensure that your loved ones are just as enthusiastic about this remarkable journey as you are. After all, the more excitement everyone shares, the more unforgettable the celebration becomes!
