What region of France for your destination wedding

1st July 2012

So you have decided to get married in France : the food, the wine and the atmosphere there is exactly what you are after for your big day. But how choose the right location ? Here are a few elements to think about that should help you make up your mind :

Think about climate, surroundings, the general atmosphere you are after. Beach, countryside, sunny provence, south west vineyards, Loire valley chateau, romantic Paris…

What do you, your friends and family like doing on a weekend away ? France offers lots of activities such as wine tasting, hiking, city sight seeing, golfing or skiing, to name but a few. But of course each region has its specialties, so if you like going to the market in the morning and spend the afternoon by the pool, maybe Provence is what suits you best !

It is no secret : the south of France and Paris tend to be more expensive than the south west or Burgundy. If you are on a tight budget, try the Drome provencale which is a bit higher up from Provence but still provides the beautiful weather and rustic yet charming venues. Burgundy, Dordogne and the south west also are good options. If you have a wealthier budget, you can look into central Paris luxury hotels, cote d’azur venues with sea view, luxurious hotels and spas in Provence, and if you like to party hard, St Tropez might just be the place for you !
